As a plus size woman, I have struggled to find places that cater to my proportions, both online and on the highstreet. Therefore I am always overjoyed to find new places that cater to women – whether with their own collection, or a collaboration of others.
Enter: Just Curvy, an online store that caters for size 12-26 women.
“We specialize in fast fashion for the curvy girls and full figured women, providing the latest fashion styles off the runway, our ranges include dresses, tops, leggings, knitwear and much more, we stock a variety of labels and brands, we aim to deliver an easy shopping experience, we are the day and night fashion shop for girls and women with curves.”
Just Curvy kindly offered to send me an item of my choice, and I went for this dress, the AX Paris Curve Zip Front Bird Print Dress
My best friend absolutely swears by the zip up dresses by AX Paris, and her similar yet smaller body shape looks amazing in their size 12 dresses. I felt that it was time I gave them a whirl!
The corset seen in these photos is my What Katie Did Morticia.
I went for a size 20 in the dress, as Hanna from The Wardrobe Challenge warned me that it comes up a little small in the bust…
Her advice was spot on! I sized up one size, and the 20 fit me perfectly.
I was also shocked at the fact that the dress fit me so well on the waist. Kat is a huge belt lover, like me, but this is one style that she chooses to wear beltless – and I can see why! I would probably add a belt just because I love them, but it certainly doesn’t need one.
The dress comes with pockets which, cleverly concealed by the tulip shape skirt.
The dress has a zip fastening up the front, and it zipped up easily over my hips and my Deco clad boobs.
The dress is a bit too short on me, and so I’d pair it with some tights or leggings to make me feel a bit more comfortable, but other than that I can’t fault it. I love the fit, the pattern, the versatility of it and the ability to show a little or a lot of cleavage!
Check out Just Curvy for more AX Paris Curve dresses, as well as other plus size items.
What a gorgeous dress, and I have to say, the shape of the skirt makes your legs look long and lean too.
I wouldn’t normally leave a comment but having seen these pictures thought I would just say how stunning you look. It is great to see a naturaly beautiful Lady with such a gorgeous figure not afraid to show her curves off. The dress looks lovely but its the person (and the body) inside the dress that makes it stunning. I don’t think its too short at all, you have beauriful legs, why cover them up.
No way is this dress too short, your legs are AMAZING! Normally I’d say with most of your dresses the attention would be brought to your boobs but not with this one. I love this dress but wow, I’d kill to have those legs! Looking fantastic!
lov your dress and your happyness

Since I started reading your blog a couple of weeks ago, shopping had become fun for me again! I’ve ordered so many fun pieces and I am (impatiently!) waiting for them to be delivered! Thank you bunches for educating women about bra sizing. It’s so very important! I learned my true size about 2 years ago in an upscale boutique and it was like the angels started singing when I strapped in to a perfectly-fitted bra! I have a very ample chest and always though that quadra-boob was normal! I had no idea that I needed to be in a 36 GG or one of its sister sizes. Since then, I’ve preached the word of the well-fitted bra and how one can literally change your life for the better!
I love how this dress fits you! It is super flattering from all angles and really nips in nicely at the natural waist line. This store will most definitely receive my business! On a side note…do you happen to know where you got the satin pencil skirt that you are wearing in the photos with your friend? It’s quite gorgeous!
xo
Thanks lovely!
It’s an old Pinup Girl Clothing dress x
One more question for you, pretty lady!! How to you avoid the dreaded “fluffy love handle” thing that happens when your corset pushes excess tissue down? I love your corset and am considering buying one for myself to wear under and over my fitted dresses, but I’m afraid that my lower belly/hip area will look like tire. I’ve worn corsets before and it’s an issue for me!
I wear shapewear underneath my dresses, and prefer corsets with gored hips x
It’s a lovely dress. I really like those little cap sleeves on you! The little poof both balances your hips, and is very flattering for your arms. We all know you aren’t super happy about your arms, but don’t cover them up in this dress!
It’s weird the personal preferences we develop about clothes… like I think the length looks fab on you :-). Then again, I like shorter dresses/skirts in general. But like my grandmother says, “if you aren’t comfortable in it, you won’t wear it,” and certainly adding tights or leggings wouldn’t take away from how flattering it is!
Love this dress on you. Love your blog, only recently found it. Hi from Ireland xx
