How To Fasten A Corset

21 Jan

I recently did a post for Hot Corsets on how to fasten a corset by yourself, something I get asked about a lot. Remember, ‘FULLFIGURE1’ gets you 10% off their products.

If you feel dizzy or short of breath then your corset doesn’t fit.
FYI, you shouldn’t do the top of the bust then the bottom, you’re going to bend the middle of the busk right out of shape, especially in a mass-produced off the peg corset.

I have corsets that fit, but if I lace them too tight then I do feel dizzy…

Does that mean that if you wear one you are not supposed to bend down? Would it be ruined?

Always taught to fasten from the bottom up so that the busk never twists or bends the hooks out of place. However, each to their own, and it’s great to see that you’re touching on this as I see so many people wearing poorly fitted (and designed and made) corsets.

Corsets are like shoes and bras. Pay for quality, get quality, it will look after you and your body.

I have made the same notion as Fee, fastening both ends first twists the busk and/or hooks easily even in quality corsets, especially if you need to squeeze a lot (cords being bit too short etc). So i’d recommend fastening from the bottom up, too.

Another thing, it looks like your corset is laced in familiar “shoelace”-fashion, … it’s way easier for the cord to go through holes if the corset is laced a bit differently, like here: http://corsettraining.net/corset-training/how-to-lace-a-corset

I’ve noticed that most mass-produced corsets are sold shoelaced, but what may be the quickest way for manufacturer isn’t best for user and the material.

    Cheers,

Great article. I was wondering if you have checked out the corsets from Corsets-uk (they also have a facebook page with amazing offers). I buy a lot of corsets from them and they are very well made despite being off the shelf. Their guides are also Very good regarding picking the right corset for your body and also getting into one etc.
