Following a debate with some fellow bloggers recently and after reading this I decided to make this video:
I am hoping that it will help dispel the myths that Simply Yours still believe in.
I just want to talk about cup sizes…
If someone is wearing a 28G and someone else is wearing a 38G this does not mean that they have the same volume of bust. Cup size is a representation of the difference in measurements between the underbust size and the measurement round the fullest part of the bust:
So someone with a 38 back with the same volume as someone with 28G boobs will require a 38D bra, as proportionally their boobs will not be as large as the smaller framed person.
This is because a 28G has the same cup volume as a 30FF, a 32F, a 34E, a 36DD and a 38D. This should help to show how when we have to downsize or upsize in the band depending on the brand we are using, we also have to do the same in the cup.
I find, for example, that Panache bras come up quite snug in the band and therefore I wear a 36H in them. However, I find that Curvy Kate come up quite loose in the band and smallish in the cup when it comes to their Showgirl range and so I downsize to a 34 back which should mean that I would need an HH cup to get the same cup volume as a 36H, but I instead need a 34J as the cup sizes do run a tad smaller than Masquerade.
I hope that this post is useful, please feel free to post and comment and ask any questions.
I hope that Simply Yours abolish this awful fitting guide and start doing things in the proper ways that companies such as Bravissimo do.
Thank you for reading and watching x
Well said George, I’m going to write a post on the silly adding inches thing – I hate that some companies do that. Great video, even better boobs 🙂 xx
I love this so very VERY much x
Thanks George………………….. could you explain the cup sizing too please as I don’t quite get when people go down a back size and up a cup sometimes………………… with your help one day I may just find the perfect bra!
Yep, I will add it to the post for you lovely xx
Thanks again Hun for the explanation x
No worries 😀 xxx
thank you for your video. bras are a nightmare, and I currently wear a 38ff. according to the measurements in the guides I’d have to have a 42 or 44 which is ridiculously HUGE and would give me no support at all! So I am so pleased that another bib boobed girl measures the back size in the same way and with the same logic as me!! x
❤
Very wise tips! Thank you for the video and thank you for spreading awareness of proper fitting!
Two suggestions:
1. use a bit more light next time… this video is a bit dark.
2. consider listing it on youtube for more viewership and to evangelize the right way to fit bras! There are far too many videos on youtube showing the silly “add five inches” method, and the more people that see the proper method, the better!
Hi lovely,
Thank you!
I did use ok lighting but I found with this and the last vid it seemd to be darker after uploading :s it is a very old basic digicam
As for Youtube I am a bit scared about the trolls and comments on there :s xxx
Good point, there are trolls aplenty on youtube… but did you know you can disable comments on the video if you prefer? That way you can still share the information with more people, and if you prefer the quality of comments you get on this blog then take them here instead 🙂
Thank you for all you do!
Hmmmm…..maybe. So far I have got some good blog views and shout outs so I will stick to what I understand technology wise but it is certainly a fab idea and one I will consider 😀
Thank you for appreciating it, it means a lot xx
loved this video!
Brilliant video Georgina! True and informative x
Love the plunge bra! As a 34HH I feel your pain at a lack of underwear with some ooomph about it! Looking gorgeous in the pics, lady! thanks for being brave enough to strip off and educate the world! xxxx
Thanks lovely xxxxxxx
You left your blog on my question I just wanted to say I’m not in anyone’s eyes full figured. I understand for bigger women it is hard to know what size they are because they fluctuate. But you’ve got the wrong person. I’m quite the opposite and can easily stick to a size. But I appreciate that you thought I was full figured as I always have wanted to be it’s just not in my genes.
Hey love, I was not trying to imply you are ‘plus size’ or that plus sized woman’s breasts fluctuate, more that my bra fitting tips and links may help you…
but I really do agree with you on band size. I know many people think if you’re a C or a D you’re this or that. My aunt is a 38 or 36 C something like that and we range completely different like different cup sizes so I totally agree on that…
Hi Georgina,
Thanks for addressing the Bravissimo/Pepperberry issue regarding dresses. I too like their clothes but find them too small in the bust area and a bit too revealing even though some of them are not meant to be low cut. I also use safety pins to make my dresses more modest, not that I am a prude. Seeing you having to do the same thing helps me because I now know that it’s not just my weird proportions that is at fault. BTW you look lovely in all of your dresses and you are a true inspiration.
Thank you lovely, I am also glad I am not alone!xxx
Niiice post and yes, Bravo to Bravissimo.
And women definitely need to fit all over again when purchasing bras from labels they haven’t tried before. No two label sizes are actually the same.
